Although its comfort and accessibility exceed standards in this category, it is not recommended as a first pod harness. That said, you don’t need to compete in the X-Alps to fly it. The overall comfort and durability make it an excellent choice for an everyday harness for pilots in need of a compact hike & fly setup to access more remote take-offs, or for convenient and lightweight travel with a highly XC-capable harness.

It is definitely durable for the category, but please note that this is a light harness which should be handled with the normal amount of care and attention you give your light wings.

The Tech

The F*Race 2’s innovative structure is based on an ergonomic Dyneema pattern that has been designed for anatomic support. The longest ever X-Alps flight was completed in this harness structure by Damien Lacaze, who reported that it treated him well for over 11 hours.

Each side of the pod features large easy-access pockets for cameras and equipment. The high volume rear compartment has a hydration bladder sleeve, and pole stowage, in addition to the large under-seat compartment. The cockpit pocket stores batteries easily. A removable cockpit is ideal for larger instruments, which can be connected to a chest pocket for extra in-flight storage.

Safety and Certification

The front mounted reserve compartment is well-integrated with an easily accessible handle, and the rescue bridles are connected at the shoulders.

A new inflatable protection system features an innovative inner compartmented design which is more efficient. It is also quick to setup – during a hike & fly race, every second counts, and a new 50 gram pump provides rapid inflation. The protector can also be inflated using the bag which comes standard. A dump valve allows rapid deflation. An inflation tube is accessible in-flight.

The F*Race 2 is certified to EN 1651-2018 standard for pilots up to 110kg. The inflatable protector spans from thighs to above lumbar and is certified with a peak impact rating of less than 33.27 g.

In Flight

Clip-in is fast thanks to one fixed leg-strap, which doubles as an anti-forget system, and only 4 closing steps (including the upper-chest strap). Ground handling is trouble-free thanks to the flexible nature of the structure – increasing mobility on tricky take-offs. Cleverly positioned EVA foam and reinforcements eliminate pressure points.

In flight, weight-shift is effective and well-tempered, and the stabilizing system (with adjustable ABS) is comfortable in turbulence. A large rear fairing profile and smooth pod improve glide and stability.

Why is SuSi now the Superlight-option for the EAZY?

Actually, the EAZY was built from SuSi. The SuSi concept has been proven over the past years to be safe and funny – so, it was obvious to design the EAZY based on SuSi. On the latest SuSi nothing changed much from perspective of agility, speed and fun but we closed the gap to the EAZY by certifying it into EN-A – bringing the worlds together!

Designer’s words…

Again, the story repeats. The Super Simple glider runs into its 4th generation. Development prolonged with tons of innovations like the BC-control and ratings in the EN-A. And still offering its now infamous flying sensation. I am stoked to have been able to redefine this glider and widen the usability of the wing again.

I remember the first generation of the SuSi which had no certification (only load-tested). I built it only for myself because I wanted a wing for hike&fly which should be light, simple but performing.
Today it still offers its typical flying sensations, it’s more robust than ever, and pilots all around the world can rely on the SuSi like they do since so many years!

What’s New?

Not that much of the spirit, but in construction details, a lot!

Improving the SuSi recipe, the glider feels more balanced overall. The starting behavior is even improved (yes!), rolling is more controlled. Full bar, the canopy has become more stable even with a glider being faster.

It got a fully working BC-riser control system over light or super light risers– it’s by the way a matter of weight or comfort which ones you use, it’s up to your choice.

And, in the standard loading we still achieved an EN-A rating (on most sizes), so newcomers to the sport can confidently fly the SuSi as their first glider. Surprise, surprise!

How small can it get?

SuSi 3 16 was the smallest EN-B certified glider in the world, now SuSi 4 14 definitely takes the lead (it’s only 12.18m2 projected)! And SuSi 4 18 is certified EN-A… AirDesign is definitely the specialist for small certified gliders. There is always a SuSi your size, whether you want to fly fast and furious, or smooth and peaceful whatever your weight is.

Construction & Features

• Double coated Skytex, doubled seams, etching tape on edges and new nose guard patches: robustness is the key.
• Unsheathed Aramid but color-coded lines! Solidity has never been so easy to untangle.
• Shark nose with un bendable Nitinol rods not only to save weight and increase robustness, but also to help for a more compact folding… To slip it more easily into your tiny rucksack.

The great versatility of the Kode 2 P enables to all kinds of adventures, always offering comfortable, accessible and controlled handling.

Hike & Fly Fun
The small sizes 12–14, as well as the intermediate sizes 16–18 when flown near their maximum wing loading, are intended for experienced pilots with active flying skills. The wing’s behavior varies according to weight, becoming much more reactive and dynamic.

Each size, a different experience
The Kode 2 P is a highly versatile wing, whose handling changes depending on size and wing loading. Sizes 22, 24, and 26 are easy, pleasant, and docile; whereas sizes 16, 18, and 20 have a more dynamic and responsive character, especially when flown near the upper end of their weight range. The smallest sizes (12 and 14), which are mini-wings, are more agile and playful, with greater sensitivity to pilot inputs and weight shift.

It is a very stable wing in any size, especially well controlled in roll, thanks to the optimized arc.

Even lighter
The under-surface is made with the new ultralight and durable N10 22 g fabric, reducing the total weight of the wing and making it more compact.

Now, all sizes share the same risers – lighter yet just as easy to handle – which further reduces weight without compromising functionality.

More precise braking
The brake has been optimized to provide clearer, more progressive feedback, especially at lower speeds. It is easier to feel when the wing is approaching the stall point, allowing the pilot to anticipate and maintain control without causing an unintentional stall.

Handling remains accessible and intuitive, even in turbulent conditions. Transitions are smooth, turns are pleasant and climbing in thermals is efficient.

Easy launches and landings
Inflation is smooth and progressive, even in zero wind. Compared to the previous model, the wing rises even more easily, allowing for quick take offs.

During landing, the final flight phase is straightforward and controlled, thanks to the brake precision. Land confidently in tight or technical spots without difficulty.

The SCALA 2 light is an evolution of the SCALA light.

We improved the rigging system, allowing big ears, a higher load for bigger sizes and a better form stability.
The ballooning has been optimized further on, as well we spend a lot of work in optimization of rod length, shape and number.
The SCALA 2 light uses the super-light D10 cloth in bottom sail: so we gained a little weight reserve for more rods in topsail.

The airfoil and intakes have been slightly adapted to improve performance and handling.

We learned a lot by developing the SCALA 2 years ago. By working on high performance wings like the MAESTRO 2, we learned further on regarding sail finish and that small details that improve gliding performance. So we put all our knowledge and experience in the SCALA 2.

We were very pleased with the high safety level of the SCALA 2 light. But we were even more pleased, that the “heavy version” of it: the SCALA 2 is still that safe and easy in extreme flying manoeuvres!
The new MJ 32 cloth is smooth, providing a really clean surface.

The ALLEGRO light has been completely recalculated and redesigned on the base of the ALLEGRO. There are some differences in rigging, ballooning, wing curve and wing statics. The result is an extraordinary superlight C wing. Additionally, we all are very pleased with the new semilight riser R07. Only with these risers it is possible to experience the full potential of this wing: the most optimal combination.

ALLEGRO light Technical Features

Although the ALLEGRO light is based on the ALLEGRO, it is not just the same wing in light cloth. During plenty of development stages, the internal structure has been optimized towards the goal to have a rigid and ultralight wing. The most obvious difference is the fact, that the ALLEGRO light has only 2 main lines in wingspan direction (versus 3 in the ALLEGRO).

The base behavior of the ALLEGRO light, however, is similar to that of his heavier brother: both are very fast and showing an impressive performance especially in speed.

Because of the lighter canopy, the ALLEGRO light is a little more “communicative” in thermals and softer in extreme maneuvers. The combination of the ALLEGRO light and the new R07 riser with an unique ergonomic C handle position is offering a new flying sensation. The test pilots were excited: now it’s on you to try!

There are a lot of differences between the BEAT light and the BEAT 2 light. -just the ground shape / outline is the same.
The “X-ray view” against the light shows the new internal construction: line suspension points moved, diagonal fingers are optimized, there are different straps with markant V shaped anchor connections.

The intake is different, the sail cut, the rods (now as well on bottom sail). The stabilo is completely different.
It is never easy for a designer to make a new generation of a best seller. Too often you want “too much” and destroy the key features that made the original so successful. We wanted to be sure that the BEAT 2 stays a BEAT, but we wanted to carefully make it even better.
Please give it a try!

You will experience the clearly better, more forgiving take off behavior.
You may immediately feel the better handling, higher agility, even more “defined” feedback.
The playful ease with which you dance your way to the top of the thermalling stack is unique!

At the request of many pilots, the BEAT 2 light has only robust, sheathed lines on the brakes and stabilo, which stand out clearly from the ground in their orange.
With this decision we follow our conviction that paragliding has to become easier again!

BEAT 2 light Designer’s Note

I was flying the BEAT and BEAT light a lot and enjoyed it’s very high comfort level. Not without a reason the BEAT light was our best seller.

It was not easy to find some “weak points” to be improved. Finally we improved take off, reduced the weight, have further improved the reaction to extreme maneuvers and tuned the handling a lot better. Because of the cleaner surface and changed sail tension, the performance improves feedback. So we are very sure that the BEAT 2 light will be even more successful than it’s predecessor.
