From now on there is no argument to fly without a rescue! The TAPA X-ALPS ultralight rescue was developed specifically for Hike&Fly and X-Alps pilots for whom every gram counts. The square rescue weighs in at a vanishingly small 784 grams in its smallest size, making it the ideal companion for pilots looking to perfect their lightweight gear.

The TAPA X-ALPS is symmetrically constructed and therefore has no system-related forward motion. On the one hand, this reduces the risk of incalculable drift, and on the other hand, the low sink rate is achieved via the surface – and not via forward motion. Due to its construction, the rescue has an extremely fast opening time and a high descent stability. These factors significantly increase your safety in the event of a rescue descent.

Reliability and strength are ensured by our high quality standards, which are guaranteed by special processing and used light materials. With careful handling and regular packing intervals, you can rely on the TAPA X-ALPS even after many years.

In the event of an emergency, you have to be able to rely on your reserve 100%. That’s why the PEPPER CROSS LIGHT increases your safety decisively. Thanks to its design, the square rescue chute has a very short deployment time and high pendular stability – two factors that can be crucial when the situation gets dicey. Large surface areas ensure a low rate of descent and the symmetrical structure helps reduce side drift to a minimum. This means that a stable descent with a pleasant landing is possible. Maximum safety doesn’t need to be bulky or heavy: the smallest sized PEPPER CROSS LIGHT starts at only 990 grams.

All who regularly pack their reserves themselves will really appreciate the inner container with its special line compartment. Robust materials ensure that this reserve will remain in top condition for many of years.

Five sizes cover a load of 55kg – 225kg, so you always have the right size with you from ultra-light to tandem use!

ABOUT THE FLUID LIGHT EVO
The SUPAIR rescue parachute range is evolving, with the arrival of the FLUID LIGHT EVO which replaces the FLUID LIGHT.

The solo range of the FLUID LIGHT has benefited from a modification of the materials which has allowed a 10% weight saving for the same volume and sink rate .

The FLUID LIGHT EVO Tandem brings many improvements that allow a weight saving of 15% as well as a gain in volume. It keeps sink rate far from the limit of the standard (4.61 m/s) to ensure a high level of safety for the crew.

The FLUID LIGHT EVO Solo and Tandem Solo benefit from the same ergonomic features as their predecessor: half red / half white to facilitate the Bending and to be identifiable in the wild, as well as toggles and folding points to facilitate handling at Bending.

Have you ever blacked out during a steep spiral dive before? Or, have you never had the courage to spiral so steeply? Well, whatever make of wing you fly, regardless of whether you have been spiraling too hard or not hard enough, the Anti-G will change your life – for the better. The Anti-G is a safety device that allows safer spiral descents by reducing G Force in a spiral dive. It is simple and easy to use, and is particularly effective for higher aspect ratio wings.

Intended primarily for use by competition pilots and pilots of high aspect ratio wings

The Anti-G is simple to use, but must be used only as directed. You must read and understand the user manual prior to use in flight.

The Anti-G packs into a pouch that is smaller than an average cockpit. It can be used with any harness.

Lightweight and compact: 620 grams total.

The Anti-G is fixed to the main attachment point of your harness on the side that you wish to spiral toward. Just deploy the chute, and begin your spiral dive as normal. Although you will be able to enter a steep spiral dive, you will make fewer turns while maintaining a higher sink rate and experiencing far less G-Force. Most pilots will experience a massive 40% reduction in G-Force while using the Anti-G. Using the Anti-G will allow you to reach a higher sink rate in your spiral with greater situational awareness due to decreased G-Force. Also, the reduction in G-Force means less strain on your wing and lines. With the Anti-G deployed in level flight, you will not feel a significant disturbance or yaw force on your harness at trim speed*.

You may descend in spiral and land as normal with the chute deployed. The Anti-G features a “kill line” to disable it easily in flight. We highly recommend this tool for all competition pilots whatever make of wing they fly; due to the high efficiency of some wings (like the Mantra and Mantra R series), it is difficult to descend effectively in spiral dive without excessive G-Force. The Anti-G allows for a very steep descent rate at low Gs for all brands of wings. If you are ordering an R11 then it is a good idea to order an Anti-G, too.

*The Anti-G is not to be used as a tool to land in a shorter than normal distance, it is intended only for use as a tool to decrease G-Force in a spiral.

ATTENTION:

While it is possible to reuse the Anti-G multiple times during a flight, OZONE does not recommend it. If the pilot retracts the Anti-G in flight, there is a danger of sudden re-inflation in the relative airflow. If the Anti-G re-inflates close to the pilot, it may cause the parachute to obscure the pilot’s view or reduce the pilot’s capability to control his/her wing. We recommend that pilots use the Anti-G for one descent only, then disable it with the kill-line before landing.

Everyone needs an Angel… even though no one really wants to use theirs. However, the fact is that when the time comes, the most important factors are safety and stability with a low sink rate for a gentle and controlled descent. The Angel V2 140 is certified to 140kg, meaning that even a pilot with a total in-flight weight of 140kg will have a stable descent of near or less than the tested result of 5.24m/s, and most pilots will have a slower descent with this size. The high stability and low sink rate, coupled with its affordable price and light weight make it a safe and popular choice for pilots of all abilities.

When it comes to stability and safety in round reserves, there is no substitute for surface area. For that reason, all sizes of the Angel are “big” in terms of surface, while still very light, and provide plenty of margin for the weight ranges they are certified to carry. In its three sizes, the Angel V2 covers all pilot weights up to 140kg (total suspended inflight weight, including reserve). It is certified EN and LTF to the EN 12491 and LTF 91/09 standards. The Angel is available in 2 bridle options: Y bridle (for harnesses with no bridles) and Short Bridle (for harnesses with integrated bridles).

Although light, the Angel has been fully optimised for safety and reliability rather than weight. When it comes to parachute construction, weight saving often compromises safety – for example thinner, lighter line sets can and do fail in certain deployment configurations due to friction cuts. The Angel’s polyamide lines are burn resistant to 200 C, while some other lightweight parachute lines are made from Dyneema and are only resistant to 80 C. This is an important distinction and we recommend that pilots educate themselves about the ultralight equipment that they use. Polyamide lines are far superior due to their elongation properties and burn resistance. The Angel’s materials have been chosen for optimum durability and damage-resistance for a greater margin of safety, even in the most extreme situations.

The Angel SQ Pro is the same proven concept of the Angel SQ, made from even lighter materials. It was developed for hike and fly adventures like the Red Bull X-Alps, and for anyone looking to save weight in their pack without compromising on safety.

The Angel SQ Pro is a top-of-the-line option for pilots who want to carry a fast-opening, stable, and safe reserve parachute that packs in a low volume, and is ultra-lightweight.

The two main factors in reserve parachute performance are sink rate and stability. A reserve parachute with an acceptable theoretical sink rate can easily deliver a hard landing if there is pendulum instability. The principal advantage of the Angel SQ Pro over a traditional round is in its increased stability. The increased stability combined with the Angel SQ Pro’s excellent sink rate makes it a higher performance reserve than traditional round designs.

The Angel SQ has a relatively large surface area, yet is ultralight, giving exceptional sink rate and stability performance with fast opening times. The large surface area is the principal ingredient in its excellent sink rate — all sizes of the Angel SQ Pro provide plenty of margin within the weight ranges they are certified to carry. Where the Angel SQ Pro really shines is in its high pendulum stability, which can be even more important than sink rate performance. During the development process, which included many real-life test deployments, the Angel SQ Pro’s low sink rate and high pendulum stability delivered consistently safe and comfortable descents.

Certified EN, the Angel SQ Pro is available in sizes 100 and 120. Supplied with a short bridle designed for harnesses with an integrated reserve bridle, it pairs well with the Ozium and F*Race series but may also be used with any other type of harness.

This is the OZONE R&D Team’s choice for reserve parachutes. Testing prototype paragliders in the Southern Alps is a demanding process, and that is why our test pilots use the Angel SQ. In Russ Ogden’s words, “The Angel SQ is clearly superior — as soon as we completed testing I switched to it for all of the flying I do, whether it’s testing, competitions, or just fun XC.”

Decreased weight

Improved sink rate

Rapid inflation

This is the OZONE R&D Team’s choice for reserve parachutes. Testing prototype paragliders in the Southern Alps is a demanding process, and that is why our test pilots use the Angel SQ. In Russ Ogden’s words, “The Angel SQ is clearly superior — as soon as we completed testing I switched to it for all of the flying I do, whether it’s testing, competitions, or just fun XC.”

Modern square rescue parachute designs have proven time and again to offer significantly better pendulum stability and sink rate performance than traditional round parachutes, whilst retaining the fast opening times that are critical for our safety. Designed and developed by the OZONE R&D Team, the Angel SQ includes all of his knowledge and experience to create the latest, most up to date development of the concept.

The two main factors in reserve parachute performance are sink rate and stability. A reserve parachute with an acceptable theoretical sink rate can easily deliver a hard landing if there is pendulum instability. The principal advantage of the Angel SQ over a traditional round is in its increased stability. The increased stability combined with the Angel SQ’s excellent sink rate makes it a higher performance reserve than traditional rounds.

The Angel SQ has a relatively large surface area, yet is very light in weight, giving exceptional sink rate and stability performance with fast opening times. The large surface area is the principal ingredient in its excellent sink rate — all sizes of the Angel SQ provide plenty of margin within the weight ranges they are certified to carry. Where the Angel SQ really shines is in its high pendulum stability, which can be even more important than sink rate performance. During the development process, which included many real-life test deployments, the Angel SQ’s low sink rate and high pendulum stability delivered consistently safe and comfortable descents. The Angel SQ is lighter than the equivalent sized Angel, while retaining the small pack volume.

The Angel SQ uses the highest quality parachute materials: Porcher PN9, and Cousin Dyneema lines. These materials have been chosen for their optimum balance of durability, performance, small packing volumes and low weight to ensure reliable, safe deployments, even in the most extreme situations. Before making your final choice in reserve parachutes, check the fabric type of competing brands. Porcher PN9 is the clear leader in quality and reliability, and fabric choice is a factor in sink rate and opening time. The Angel SQ opens fast, on par with the fastest round parachutes that we have tested.

Certified EN and LTF to the EN 12491 and LTF 91/09 standards, the Angel SQ is available in 4 sizes with maximum loads from 100kgs to 220kgs. There are 2 bridle options: The short bridle version for harnesses with integrated bridles, and the Y bridle version for harnesses with no built in bridles.

The BEAMER 3 light is all a BEAMER 3, but thanks to the optimized weight of its materials, it is more than 400 grams lighter than normal. In addition to lower weight, its volume is also smaller. With its 1370 grams, the BEAMER 3 light is one of the lightest airship parachutes on the market.

19 years of maximum safety
In 1995 the Beamer opened a new chapter in the history of paraglider reserve parachutes. Our Rogallo concept changed the scene for ever, and the Beamer 1 still waits, ready for action, in many harnesses. In 2010 the Beamer 2 set another benchmark for steerable reserves. Its proven concept, new features and improved qualities convincingly established the Beamer 2 in the market. The Beamer 3 builds on the best features of the Beamer 2. A completely redeveloped Beamer 3 riser system improves opening, operation and installation – the success story continues!

The top four Beamer 3 characteristics

Fast opening
Opening time is the most important reserve criterion. If a reserve has to be thrown at low altitude – and that is often the case – a single second can make all the difference. The Beamer 3’s special shape and particular folding technique help it open up to 50% faster than normal round canopies; the Beamer 3 is setting EN Test records.

Low sink speed
Assuming a reserve is open with its paraglider in a stable situation the next most important thing is sink speed. Low wing loading and modest forward speed give the Beamer 3 an unrivalled low sink rate. The EN certification authority has confirmed a sink rate of 3.9 m/s at maximum weight of 130 kg (without the paraglider). The additional braking effect of a paraglider reduces this value to less than 3m/s.

Stable flight
When developing a Rogallo our main focus is how it works with the paraglider. After reserve opening the paraglider can stay attached (the usual emergency situation – no quick release/cutaway). Here the Beamer 3 really plays its trump card, and is far superior to the smaller models on the market in this respect. After a fast opening the Beamer 3 quickly takes control. It goes into very slow forward flight and therefore does not encourage the paraglider to disturb it. The Beamer 3 achieves Its stability, among other things, by its low wing loading.

As a special feature we elected to further develop the braked opening configuration for the Rogallo – successfully applied to the Beamer 2. This results in even less forward speed and provides what most pilots need – the advantages of a round canopy’s vertical flightpath, plus those of a steerable forwards-flying Rogallo. For example, if the Beamer opens alongside a rock face, or in strong wind, its initial descent will be almost vertical. Then, after its steering lines have been activated, the Rogallo’s forward speed can be used. If the pilot has enough height he can then steer the Beamer 3 away from danger (e.g. rocks, water, buildings etc.).

The braked opening configuration automatically includes another important effect: what is known as ‘downplaning’ is effectively prevented. This scissoring problem happens when paraglider and reserve (round canopies too) both develop forward speed while pulling against each other, and both head straight downwards. This raises the sink speed markedly, and the risk of injury dramatically. The Beamer 3’s pre-braking and its large area oppose this: the braked Rogallo surface refuses to be accelerated in this way.

Steering and flying forwards – the Beamer’s speciality!
Paraglider under tow: In real-life reserve-throwing situations the paraglider can become a massive problem. In many cases the paraglider is already collapsed, both during and after reserve opening, and therefore prevented from flying. Here the Beamer 3 descent is a pure pleasure. The canopy reacts immediately to steering commands and sinks at its slowest rate. When the reserve is thrown while the paraglider is flying normally, such as during SIV training, the descent characteristics of both Rogallo and round reserve can be affected. If the paraglider reopens itself during a reserve descent it can easily be prevented from flying by B-stall, or reefing in. This will greatly improve steerability. Countless examples in practice confirm the problem-free behaviour of all Beamers in every possible situation.

Paraglider tangled up in the Rogallo lines: Here pilots with a cutaway system can fully appreciate the Beamer 3’s qualities. Glide performance doubles – with slightly increased sink speed. Cutaway carabiners mainly make sense in competition flying (more risk of collision) or for acro. A suitable seatbelt cutter, secured on a long bungee, would do the same job in an emergency.

It goes into very slow forward flight and therefore does not encourage the paraglider to disturb it. The Beamer 3 achieves Its stability, among other things, by its low wing loading. This accords with our recommendation: Don’t put your trust in anything under 40 m2.

As a special feature we elected to further develop the braked opening configuration for the Rogallo – successfully applied to the Beamer 2.
Technical differences between Beamer 3 and Beamer 2
The Beamer 3 has a completely new, simplified and user-friendly riser system. This reduces the chance of twists, and makes installation easier. Packers will appreciate this: Steering line shortening for the braked opening stage is largely self-explanatory. The risers are set up for shoulder mounting. Short extensions are needed for main carabiner (front container) attachment.

Size, wing shape, lines and flying behavior of the Beamer 3 remain unchanged from the Beamer 2. Construction details and the new risers reduce the weight from (very light!) 1950 to 1785 gm for an area of 42 m2.

After 3 years’ good experience of the Beamer 2 we could assume the same performance for fabric and lines. Despite its light construction the long-lived and robust Beamer 3 can be thrown over water.

The new DIAMONDcross ST from Charly presents three main innovations:

It has a defined forward speed in diagonal direction with the effect of a significantly reduced sink speed. This results on the one hand in a higher aspect ratio compared to conventional cruciform canopies, those propulsion mainly takes place towards one side, and on the other hand in the asymmetrical air flow of the convex sides of the DIAMONDcross canopy, thereby receiving an ascending forced optimised profile.

The horizontal movement which is typical for every modern round canopy and cruciform canopy, can be steered for the DIAMONDcross ST in a certain direction, if required. Obstacles like e.g. power lines can thus be avoided and an emergency landing field can be precisely approached with a glide ratio of ca. 1:1,5. There are no disadvantages for the DIAMONDcross ST compared with conventional cruciform canopies.

The DIAMONDcross has different line lengths which has the effect that the strips of the canopy don’t lie on top of each other when packing the canopy. This diversification causes an easier air inlet when opening and thus an increased opening speed compared to conventional cruciform canopies. The packing of the DIAMONDcross is not more time-consuming or more complex than for a normal cruciform canopy.

The superlight DC thus combines the low packing effort of round- and cruciform canopies with the controllability of Rogallo rescue systems. For the DIAMONDcross, there is no risk of „downplane” directly after opening, which is the case for Rogallo rescue systems, also when flown too slow, if it opens with the top downwards.

The concept of the DIAMONDcross works without pre-brake and therefore the system remains very easy to handle and is reliable.

Further safety aspects:

There are no potential hazards in consequence of the steer-ability:
The twisting of the lines, which often is unavoidable when using a controllable rescue system, doesn’t cause any special risks. The DIAMONDcross can also be controlled in twisted condition. The red colour marking on the front head indicates clearly visible the flight direction for the pilot.

No risks can arise by excessive pulling or by non-use of the brake handles. There is no risk of stall. A pulling of the brakes is not required when landing, as the canopy already is trimmed at minimum sink rate. The forward speed also reduces significantly the risk of spine compression during the landing.

The long suspension lines of the DIAMONDcross and the symmetric shape of the canopy lower the risk of causing a collapse with the rescue system and the glider.
Forward movement and low sink rate reduce in addition the risk of a side slip between the rescue system and the glider, and therefore higher sink rates.

A short stall phase of the DIAMONDcross after opening prevents the formation of a “downplane”-position. The DIAMONDcross merges without the help of the pilot after a short independent stall phase in an easy, very stable and swing-free forward flight.

The special design of the inner container, optimized with the help of Tom Grabner’s G-Force trainer ensures a safe deployment of the DIAMONDcross with low effort needed. Especially with regard to inconvenient pulling directions when deploying the rescue system. Therefore we absolutely recommend to use the original approved container with the rescue system and to adapt the rescue handle of the harness to the container by an authorized service company.

The inner container has a separate space for the suspension lines.
The canopy will only be deployed after aspect ratio of the suspension lines, which enables a fast and controlled opening. The risk of a cravat of rescue system and glider is therefore reduced.

The superlight, optional steerable cruciform canopy from Charly’s product designer Tom Grabner has been registered for patent and certified in four sizes.
